Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday dedicated the 25th edition of ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ to the brave soldiers of Operation Sindoor, following India’s strong military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

Speaking at the national capital during the event, Mandaviya said the initiative was being held simultaneously at over 5,000 locations across India, underscoring nationwide participation in fitness and national solidarity. “We dedicate today’s edition to the brave hearts who were part of Operation Sindoor,” he stated.

Actor Sharvari Wagh was also present at the Delhi leg of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Ashish Sood, speaking from Janakpuri, emphasised how campaigns like Fit India and Khelo India reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to building a strong sporting and fitness culture in the country. “Today, hundreds of youth, students, and seniors from Janakpuri joined the movement to carry Modi ji’s vision forward,” Sood said.

Launched in December 2024, Sundays on Cycle has rapidly grown to reach 5,500+ locations with over 3 lakh participants and 3.44 billion digital impressions. The campaign has been endorsed by several public figures, including Sania Mirza, Milind Soman, Emraan Hashmi, and John Abraham.

The events, held at Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Khelo India Centres (KICs), offer community fitness activities like Zumba, guided yoga, rope-skipping, and free health check-ups by experts from the National Centre of Sports Sciences and Research (NCSSR).

With World Bicycle Day set to be observed on June 3, Sunday’s edition served not only to promote fitness through cycling but also as a nationwide tribute to India’s armed forces.
